The State Puppet Theatre aims to transform the new Center into a space for the realization of diverse artistic projects by state, municipal, and independent creative organizations. Envisioned as an active cultural venue for contemporary art, the Center will offer a comfortable, modern environment for theatrical expression, as well as educational and social activities.
The international competition was open to any interested participants and judged anonymously. The design proposals were evaluated by a nine-member jury.
The winning entry by the German-Bulgarian Studio UNAS, was selected and awarded the technical and working investment project. In addition to the construction of the new Center, the existing building will be under renovation to address necessary repairs and to unify the appearance of the new and existing buildings.
As of October 31st, 2024, funding for the technical and working investment project has been secured by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
